Who: All Eduwings families
When: Fri., Nov. 8, 5 pm
Where: Shunyi Campus / Haidian Campus
Dear families,
On Friday, November 8th at 5 pm we will celebrate St. Martin Day, the German Lantern Festival. We warmly invite you to join in the lantern festival in our 2 campuses! We will share our German tradition of celebrating lantern festival with our Chinese and English families and enjoy the atmosphere of a lantern walk and singing songs together. We are looking forward to this special and cozy event!
When celebrating together, the kids can proudly show off their self-made lanterns which you’ll help them make on November 1st during our Lantern Crafting Afternoon. The parents funds managers will buy some food, including bread, sausages and drinks, from the parents’ funds.
We’d also highly appreciate if 3 families (or more) of each group who are talented at cooking could each bring one big pot of soup to share with everyone.
For the coordination of the soups please tell your lead teacher if you want to contribute a pot of soup to our St. Martin buffet and which kind of soup you would like to prepare. Since we have some Muslim families and teachers, please let us know if your soup’s recipe contains pork, or if it is vegetarian.
Let’s Spread the Spirit of St. Martin – donate a blanket!
In the spirit of St. Martin’s day we would like to ask our Eduwings families to donate a clean used/unused blanket. We will donate these blankets to families in need from Qinghai & Tibet. We will cooperate with Qinghai Fu Rui Foundation charity organization(青海省福瑞慈善基金会) who will deliver these blankets. The donation box will be in the foyer on the evening of 8th November.
Please bring the following things for our lantern festival:
- 2 x No. 5 (AA, 1,5 V) batteries for the light sticks (Please note that the light sticks need to be returned at the end of the event. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!)
- Lantern sticks for friends or siblings
- One big pot of hot soup for the talented cooks among you. Please bring the soup in a lidded steel pot (not plastic!) with a soup ladle and label them with your child’s name, group and the type of soup and specifications such as “containing pork” or “vegetarian”.
Schedule:
- 1.00 pm: All kids are picked up from kindergarten or take the bus home
- 4.40 pm: Parents and kids arrive in kindergarten & go to their classroom
- 5:00-5:30 pm: The story of St. Martin will be told or acted out
- 5:30 pm: Gather on playground and sing songs
& Lantern walk in compound

We much look forward to seeing you at the event!
